Tha cud meet and shek hands with Mr and Mrs Parekh Nudge at their big mansion in India.

    Mrs Parekh would be saying---

"You know Neerav don't you Mr Nudger. Neerav speaks a lot about you.

Neerav has been a big disappointment to the family. We gave him the finest education to become a consultant at a top hospital or a top barrister in London so we could be proud of him.

Instead he has gone to a town in the north of England we have never heard of and has started wearing a silly scarf all the time saying he is the boss of a football club we have never heard of as well.

It is so sad and has brought shame on the family. We have told him he is not getting a penny from us to spend on that club. We have loaned him a few million pounds to buy shares in that club because we know we can get the money back when he sells them but that is all we will be giving him. He is going through a phase at the moment.

It was good to see you Mr Nudger".

You missed out on one other thing nudger, the smell and not in a bad way. We’ve been a couple of times and the thing that I always remember is the smell of the place, the air seems full of spices and the different flora they have, love the place.

I spoke to Neerav about India at the Supporters Trust meeting.
I told him it was my favourite country and that I would like to live there.
I asked Jean if she had been and she said she hadn’t - I said to her that she should visit.

And yes - I also love the Med.
But oddly I feel more at home in India than I do in Barnsley.

Nudge, save the planet…. Don’t fly to Mumbai, catch the 1702 from Barnsley interchange to Huddersfield. You’ll be well at home here. Let me know and I’ll suggest some really good areas where you can feel at home round here

The caste system in India is far more restrictive in terms of opportunities in life than the class system in Britain. I'm not sure Nudge would enjoy the lifestyle of the lower castes in India.

The vast majority of those of Asian heritage in Halifax are Pakistani. as is the case in most Northern towns, particularly the old textile towns, as the original Pakistani British passport holders came at our Government's request to provide plentiful cheap labour for the textile mills. Generations of their families followed from Pakistan to Britain to settle in close communities around the mosques.

The Pakistani and Indian communities generally dislike each other, the latest example being the under-reported troubles in Leicester.
