    Matchday Thread: Ipswich v Derby

Collo still out but Osula is a good replacement to have. Will Knight be fit enough? I hope so. Who will he pick and in what formation? Back 4 for this one maybe? I'd do it but I don't think Warne will.... I think he should.

    Wildsmith
    Chester Davies Cashin
NML Sibley Bird Knight (Tommo if JK is injured) Barkhuizen
    Osula Dobbin

    3-1 defeat.

Ipswich had been going well at home up until the surprise defeat by Lincoln. Relatively free scoring too, so I see the sense of four at the back for us in this one. Not overly optimistic I’m afraid. Can’t see it being scoreless...maybe 2-2 with a little help from the elusive Lady Luck.

How often to we win away from home on a weekday? Even before Rooney, it has always been a struggle.
    1-0 defeat.

We always used to do well at Portman Road and badly against them at home, so I will go for a 1-2 win

    A true seer Ramshank

Pretty directionless stuff, balls into the box awful, barkhuisen had a nightmare and seemed to lose heart about ten minutes in.

Not in the best of moods for a variety of reasons and that really didn’t help.
Rudderless, directionless, puzzling managerial decisions, not a single sub had any impact and, despite the goal being a gift, we were lucky to lose by just one.
Looked like what it was...potential champions v also rans...can’t see anything changing until Warne gets in some reinforcements.
Feel sorry for the many who made the long, slow and expensive trip to Suffolk...and when did Ipswich start playing at home in black?

Under LR we controlled games without doing much in the final third. Yesterday we didn't do either. Just 5 shots and zero on target. They didn't fare much better with 16 and 3. Those 3 being the goal, the penalty save and one other at the near post from a deflected shot.

Without the combined Cash/Curt blunder the game had 0-0 written all over it.

Barkhuizen was ripped a new one defensively and was ineffective going forward. He was not alone in his attacking lackings. Too much dilly dallying in the final third, poor control and we didn't really look like scoring.

The penalty? Certainly was one. Again a Wildsmith save and, also again, it should have been retaken as he was well off his line before the kick was taken.

How was the "tackle" from Evans on Smith not a straight red? Took him out with the studs just below the knee and raked down to the foot. He should have gone.

Andy used the word 'yuk' to describe the kits, I think it describes our performance!
The tackle on Smith was horrendous and appeared a deliberate attempt to 'leave one on him'! It is further evidence of the crap officiating at this level but we will have to live with that.
rA suggests we looked like also rans, well in horse racing terms we are demonstrating that recent circumstances have left us without a jockey and a lame horse! But, as I keep reiterating we are still here and redevelopment of the club is, IMO, the priority not promo. It's noticeable that previously established 1st and 2nd tier clubs like Ipswich, Sunderland and Sheff Wed have found escape from this league a bit of a grind so our situation with EFL restrictions is an additional yoke around our necks. Footie fans have short memories and are an impatient lot but the reality is that performances like this one are probably inevitable.
