Coach Company Leaves Blades Fans Stranded, For Travel To West Brom

Sheffield United play away at West Brom today in the championship.

Fans booked & paid for 3 coaches from Cawthornes Travel to take them to the game,
last night Cawthorne contacted the fans organiser, to tell him that they could only
provide 2 coaches for their travel to West Brom.
The fans organiser managed to get a last minute replacement coach last night from
    another travel company.
Cawthorne travel assured the organiser, that the other 2 coaches would turn up, this
morning the fans gathered at 7am on London road, waiting to be picked up, at 8.15am
Cawthorne travel contacted the organiser, to say both coaches were broke down, &
were awaiting a fitter to repair them.
At 9.15 Cawthorne travel again contacted the trip organiser, to say the coaches would
not get the fans to the game on time, so fans were left stranded.
Kassam coaches, known as Kaz's tours, managed to get some fans on other buses,
but the majority booked trains or decided to drive to the game.

No winners here. Small company and probably run into financial difficulty.

Yes but the reality is if a company has 3 coaches, 3 drivers and all three are fully booked up then one breaks down?

Financial problems means companies have "just enough" no spares, operate just in time supply chains and very reluctantly pay their suppliers

Lots of football clubs are doing exactly the same

I've come on train, came down last night.

Found out this morning my return train has been cancelled.
I've got to hope I can get back to Cardiff Central in time for one a hour earlier 🤞

The train down yesterday was rammed stood up gor part of way.

Same on Tuesday night, last minute cancellation of 3 trains from Coventry station tio ground meant rail replacement bus, luckily I got the only one that got me there in time for kick off

Travel on this little island of ours is f 00 ked

So much better over the water done loads of travel between countries in Europe train and coach hardly ever any problems and when there is is sorted quickly and you get where you're going as close to on time as possible in my experience.

Too many different companies trying to run a service on bare bones. Kick them out and Nationalise it to get it running better(perhaps)

Just had a short break in London, went by train with no problems

    Trains on time both ways

Amazing though how much money has been thrown at the tube and rail system in and around London

Definitely two worlds compared to up here.

    Wrong.

If your train is cancelled or delayed, You Jump on the next available service and that also counts for advance tickets.

    Stop being a Karen

And I’m not surprised travel in the continent is better when all the franchises are foreign and we subsidise them.

Same as why the nhs is knackered

My mate lives on Lanzarote, he said the Spanish government recently announced that, (seeing how they own the rail network) all local journeys were now free and long distance has been subsidised down to 50%. This is to help with the cost of living. That would have to be a Carlsberg advert in this country.
