Our Vanarama National League home match against Barnet has been rearranged for Tuesday 20 December (7.45pm).
We were originally scheduled to host the Bees on Saturday 26 November but they will now be in Emirates FA Cup action that weekend.
All tickets purchased for the original date remain valid. Those unable to attend are able to claim a refund by calling 0115 955 7210, emailing [email protected] or visiting our ticket office/club shop.
Did we have any choice of date?
If we did then after the success of this weekend this seems a disaster.
Just before Christmas, not the best of timing.
Disaster? that gives us three home games in a row evenly spaced. It may not be perfect financially, but that would be of secondary importance to taking a possible nine points. Also it was important to arrange the fixture before Christmas, to keep it within the block of six winnable games before Christmas.
Four successive league games NOT on a Saturday can't have happened very often in Notts' history.
I think the rule now is that you have to re-arrange as early as possible. It was ridiculous when clubs used to play on beyond the last Saturday of the season and since play offs came into being that has had to be avoided. Initially (late 80s/early 90s) some teams ended up playing Saturday - Tuesday - Thursday in April/early May (as happened to us in that first play off winning season) which was far from ideal either, so it makes sense to get games played ASAP, particularly in this league where we have two (not one) cup competitions staged on weekends.
Successive Tuesday night games pre-Christmas is unfortunate but the fear of a poor turn out for an evening KO isn't seemingly a worry for Notts these days.

Not sure games are allowed to be arranged before the original date? The other factor is Barnet themselves. It’s not our decision but rather than one that mutually benefits both clubs. IMO the 20th seems practical for both sides. Your point about not having a game for a fortnight is irrelevant as we wouldn’t have had a meaningful games for 13 days without the Barnet game being in the 20th. I refuse to count the FA trophy in the hope that we play the youth team.
We could be in this league 50 years and I’ll never think playing early rounds of the FA Trophy on Saturdays makes any sense. 2 midweek games with the consequent affect on attendances and we’re wasting a Saturday on that. Nonsense.
