    Last night’s penalty.

Listened to the match but there was little comment about the penalty, other than to say it was a player error. For those who saw the match, what actually happened and who was involved ?

Saw the incident on TV and thought that it was a penalty. Those who were actually at the game might have a different opinion to me.

I think it was Pieters. He just got in front of the Coventry forward and caused him to stumble in the box. Clumsy more than anything.

Player ran past four of our defenders who seemed more intent on tackling each other!

It was criminal defending before the tackle that gave the penalty. Three players had the chance to tackle him and they all seemed to try and tippy tap it away from him.

The players around the Coventry player seemed scared to give a penalty away; the slow motion replay was also inconclusive but it looked as if a defender made contact with the ball first. The match commentator called it harsh and I agree. If the slow motion can’t call it definitively then the ref should not be awarding a penalty; it was Keith Stroud, though.

Thanks for the info all. At least I’m pleased there was no petulance merely clumsiness!

Well, yes, but the fact is that we lost what would have been a good point because of a dubious penalty courtesy of Mr Stroud. Grrrr!

We missed out on a point but the simple truth is we really didn't deserve one. We were out worked and out manouvred for the best part of 70 to 75 minutes.

Penny for CC's thoughts as he watched that happening. If it wasn't for Alex Palmer we'd have taken a right humping.
