The lad is pure class & is with out a doubt the most accomplished defender in the premier league & whats more he has had to build his career to this level despite the best efforts of the press & the tv pundits trying to destroy him , I can only believe that the fact that when city signed him he became the record signing at the time & suddenly became fair game from every critic within in the media , some of the comments from television commentators were awful , they just waited for one mistake to hammer him whilst they went the other way with Maguire who became the darling of the press , well John has been outstanding at the last two world cups & has withstood all the stick to come out as top dog , well done John , you make your family & the people of Barnsley proud .

Lee Dixon one of his big critics, pouncing every time at the slightest of opportunities, yet silent of other players off days.
Dixon born in Manchester of all places but played for Arsenal of course and capped for England 22 times.
I just wonder if he knows how many times John has actually been capped.
