Anyone know the Leeds Utd players in 1971 pic.

Desperately wanted to get my Dad something different for his upcoming birthday at the end of month & got him these 1971 Football mags as part of prezzie. 😊

Both interesting reads from 'heading the ball nessessity' skills back then (unaware of now known medical damage links) & a ready made Ford Escort for a 1970 WC Rally plus a crossword & a Leeds cover pix (i think Sprake & Hunter) & (Mum thinks its Palace v Leeds at Selhurst) but we're not sure of 2 other Leeds players in cover pic until Mum googled teams for that seasons day via date of matches circa cover date.

Anyone know the surprise Leeds player name on the Striker front cover pic ?
The games on Youtube with a howler from Sprake who missed a looped header in the sun glare, both goals scored in 90th minute.
So late drama & dropped points.

Player in the background looks like Paul Madeley and the one between their players could be big Jack.

Took a magnifying glass to this and still not sure. I think its madeley in the background. But can't be sure. I think its Charlton sandwiched between 2 players.

Looks more like Terry Yorath at the back; looks like big Jack in the sandwich; number 6 would normally be Norman but the hair looks more like Mick Bates

Nailed on Palace (A) on 18/10/69.

    Obviously, Sprake and Hunter.

Looks to me like Charlton and Madeley would be the logical choices based on the formation that day (see ozwhitelufc.net.au)?

There is a similar image on the Getty site. My eyes might be deceiving me, but the player next to Sprake could well be wearing the number 5?

Looks like a set piece of some sort too, but Yorath did play and was wearing #8.

    Not convinced that’s Madeley.
