    Reading Post Match Thoughts

Despite having not won at their place since 1977 it's never a good sign to give up a half time lead, especially when the opponents are struggling. A crucial miss just before the break comes back to haunt us but at the end of the day he's a defensive midfielder and we have 5 forwards in our squad who are failing to score. A worry? Make no mistake we are well and truly in the relegation mixer but all we can do is pick ourselves up and go again on Saturday against Coventry.

    Thoughts?

Their first - Ref missed a clear pull on Rathbone just outside their area - they broke, Oddofin bulldozed in when the Reading player was going nowhere - result - goal. Don't know what Harding was playing at giving away the corner for their second - frustrating. Reading created very little and in the first half we look twice the team they were. Still trying to fathom how we lost to such an inept opposition.
The pressure is now on for the next two home games. We need at least 4 points - and judging by tonight's results, that's going to be a real challenge.

I'm feeling really gutted after that. We weren't at our best tonight and it was a very scrappy stop/start game from the off.
Reading are a poor side but we made them look good and we were second to the ball all over the pitch and we looked a yard slower than they did for most of the game. I'm not a fan of Washington. He holds onto the ball and tries to beat another player instead of looking for a pass to a teammate. Not sure what to think of Hugill either. He doesn't look like he's capable of scoring goals for us. Ollie wasn't the same player tonight. He was at around 65% of where he usually is and when he's off his game it rubs off to the rest of the team. A point lost, in fact I thought it was three points lost because with our defensive record lately I didn't expect us to concede one, never mind two goals. Gutted.

Hard to take. Their 1st goal a clumsy tackle gave them a free kick they scored from. 2nd Harding gave a needless corner away. With BW at the back we haven't got that commanding header of the ball. Bramall did ok. Fosu also. Take what worked out of that game & change what didn't if we can.

We was always going to be in s relegation battle..anyone who thought differently needs to come to reality.

Gutted tonight but the difference between the 2 sides was Andy Carroll and his wages.

Been so much hype over our activity in January transfer window. Truth is we have signed some real dross and a few talented kids who don't give a to ss about the Millers.

Hugill is awful. Will make Dexter Blackstock look like Dennis Bergamp. And remember it's a 3 year deal.

Poor strategy by the chairman. No planning.

    Relegation.

I thought we played very well except for two mistakes. Odoffin had no reason to make that tackle wright had him going nowhere, he came steaming in absolutely shocking, he also took a header of hugill head when it would have been a simple header for him, not a good night for odofinn. Then we left carrol unmarked as we did for the second, you can’t do that. Harding giving away a silly corner for that instead of just knocking it out for a throw. We are in a scrap and the real worry is the lack of goals, nobody looks capable of scoring 5 or so goals in the remaining games. Positives we are playing better football that we did after the World Cup and over Xmas, Rathbone was immense and we are not the same team without him in it, that showed when he went off, don’t understand why Lindsay isn’t on the bench as Fergie is not a replacement for Rathbone or Odoffin if they come off. I thought the subs were poor, pettier had done well and a double substitution down the right made us lose some shape. We have to start winning games, the gap above us is getting bigger and we are only a few points off the bottom two. Humphrey’s looked good agin and Bramall stopped Ince playing, Coventry is looking better each game and Hugill is a handful. Saturday is a huge game and we have to win our home games against mid-table and lower placed teams otherwise the points against the top teams will be worthless. Late goals away from home always hurt especially when you play well, we were a lot better than Saturday.

A few of our players not at the racers tonight, not a big fan of Hugill 100% yes but very little end product.I can’t see us scoring enough goals. Our loss tonight was of our own doing & it’s cost us big time.If tomorrows results don’t go for us we are in trouble again.

Harding shouldn’t be on the pitch. Hall should have come on instead of him. Don’t think Hugill is fit. Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in a typical Rotherham performance. Didn’t you just know it. Nothing changes.
The only advantage is that we have a lot of home games

Yet again we don't really play like we can against the so called weaker/less strong sides - why? Can see this going down to the very last game - we need to cut out those daft mistakes because at this level, time and again you'll get punished for it - this is not L1 in that respect and there's minimal margin for error
