How is this guy still employed? That was one of the easiest red card calls I've seen in a bit. Lunged at Faes with studs up and at the knee. Can't really believe that he was able to get up after that.

Even Sunday leagues red card that one. Don't need VAR to determine it.

There were some strange calls at the weekend.

It didn't end up saving them, but West Ham totally dodged a bullet with an obvious handball in the box too - their second such call in a row.

It didn't logically fall into the "completely intentional" or "denying a clear shot going into the goal" bracket, but it was definitely in an unnatural position, so a PK should've been given, at least in my humble opinion.

I can't get over how bad the officiating has become. It's almost as if VAR has made them all spectators rather than refs.

The other extreme are the ones that every play they are a factor in. Cards galore, stoppages for discussions, massive time wasting with no cards or warnings. It's as if they've never officiated a high level intense match.

I think the world cup break was also bad. A lot of those games were well officiated and the way they kept the clock really cut down on the impact of time wasting strategies. Really liked that aspect of the WC

Still think that clubs should have the right to veto certain refs. I know that means they will need more of them but let's face it. some would get vetoed almost every match. After a while even the FA could figure out they are not up to prem quality.
