Venue :The Den, Zampa Road, London, SE16 3LN.
Kick Off -19:45. Tuesday February 21 2023

This is a fixture Clarets Mad contributor Alto would have relished. Championship leaders Burnley against play off contenders Millwall. The Lions were a club dear to his heart and in the early kick off on Saturday they overcame second placed Sheffield United 3-2 with striker Tom Bradshaw netting a hat trick. The Clarets duly capitalised on the Blades slip up with a hard fought 1-0 away win at Luton that takes them eleven points clear at the top of the table. Now Millwall will be hoping to inflict a rare defeat on the Clarets at what is sure to be a packed out and noisy Den on Zampa Road. Zampa I think means claw and there is no doubt this will be a fiercely contested match with so much at stake for both teams.

Gary Rowett was appointed Millwall manager in October 2019 succeeding Neil Harris. Gary was a regular Premier League defender during his playing days and has accumulated a great deal of experience with Championship clubs in his managerial career. Rowett was in charge at Birmingham City, Derby County and Stoke before taking the reins at Millwall. Having taken Derby County into the play offs in the 2017-18 season Rowett will be keen to give Millwall a chance of promotion to the Premier League.

When these two sides met last August second half goals from Vitinho and Rodriguez gave Vincent Komany his first home win of the season. Millwall boast an impressive home record of their own with 9 wins and only two defeats in 15 games. They are unbeaten at home in their last 10 league games. After picking up injuries against Watford and Luton respectively Jordan Beyer and Nathan Tella could recover in time for Tuesday’s game but Benson, Rodriguez and Taylor Harwood-Bellis are all still sidelined. Millwall may well retain the same eleven that kicked off against Sheffield United though George Honeyman could replace Oliver Burke.
