    Are we just jealous?

The resentment towards the Premier League by many posters on here has become apparent in their responses to the ongoing Lineker saga.
So how would these posters feel if Notts were to gain enough thrust to climb up the heavy heights? Do they not want that to happen?
The Premier League should comprise the creme de la creme, so why do some posters either reject that view or prefer to watch the game at more mundane levels like the Vanarama or even park football? For example Grantham Pie, a longstanding poster whom I respect tells me he doesn't even know who won the Premier last season or for any of the seasons before.
Is the negative feeling towards the top division simply a matter of jealousy at our own relatively low status and its implications in terms of money?
Just curious about people's views on this.

Not for me. I had a season ticket at a club that has always been in the premier greed from 1975 to 1992. I got increasingly fed up with all-seaters having no atmosphere, ridiculous kick-off times, astronomical prices and the f*ck you attitude from the club's hierarchy. Would i go if Notts got there? Difficult to say, but I suspect I'll never have to make my mind up! TBH, I don't like the absurdly named championship much either. if I want to watch top-level football I go to Germany (much cheaper, I can stand up, i can drink while watching etc. etc.). I've watched a few games in Belgium and France this season and enjoyed them (much cheaper, I can stand up, i can drink while watching etc. etc.). I think there's a theme here.

I'd gladly accept a place in a closed shop European Super League with half of the home games played around the world, if it meant being in a superior position to Fword.

You support your team regardless of what division they are in Sid. If Notts were in the prem great. I am quite enjoying this division to be honest and I do not think I would enjoy the prem any more. The money is a moot point for me. I don't really like the prem a lot as I find it very manufactured. Not really anything to do with jealousy.

No, not jealousy…just pure bloody hatred of the ostentatious and greedy nature of the Premiership. It seriously sickens me.

I’ve always struggled with people supporting the top/top clubs… particularly when they never go to games and don’t originate from there. I do accept that there are sometimes family ties to some of the clubs.. geordie miners in Notts etc etc but I can’t accept bandwagonners and plastics, who only ever watch “their” fantasy teams on tv. It’s absurd.

What would I do if Notts ever reach that level. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever have to decide.. certainly not in my lifetime, but if it where ever to happen… I’d seriously have to weigh my conscience about feeding the monster that is top flight football.

Let’s be honest if we get back into League 2 … it would be like we were in the Premier League

Same for me, my natural instinct as a diehard Notts fan of over 50 years is to want us to win every game. Logic says that if that happened we would soon be in the Premier League, where I have no desire to be. While I hate us being a non-league club, as QP says our stay in this division has been enjoyable in one sense rather than the nightmare we were told it would be. Far more wins than defeats, crowds on the increase, a positive rather than negative vibe around the club, and playing in front of real fans. We might only have 95 Eastleigh fans in the JS on Tuesday, but each and every one of them will be proper fans and not plastic fans.

It will never be an issue, but if we reached the Greed League half of me would be tempted to join Stickypalms and go back to grass roots football.

As someone who has never seen us play in the top flight (which is also every Notts supporter under the age of 32 and a large portion under 40 who will have vague memories) then it would fill me with immense pride. It would be something completely different to anything that has been known. It's a million miles away from where we are now though and as the years go by the premier league has become less and less interesting which is probably a result of Notts going further and further away from that level. The premier league is a closed shop for the super rich with it's own economy. Each club trying to outbid the other and inflating the costs for the others. Average players for that level cost millions and are not worth it in my view. Look at the joy we've had from Langstaff's goals and how much he cost the club. Now that is value for money. A goal is a goal and feels the same whether it's scored in the National League or premier league.

It's not so long ago that we were playing the likes of Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth in the lower leagues. For us to get there would require huge amounts of money. I wouldn't swap it for what we have now though because despite us being in the fifth tier in my opinion the club is in a great position under our current owners playing the best kind of football. It's the best it's been since Derek Pavis was chairman. Plus I'd want to see us progress up the leagues because the journey to the top like Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton would be filled with so many great memories and moments.

Personally, i wouldn't like to see Notts in the premier league. for one we couldn't compete with the established clubs on a financial basis, and further more, i wouldn't like the experience being beaten every week again and also having to play games at ridiculous times to suit sky tv.
However, I would like to see us establish ourselves as a mid table championship side who were to win more games than lose..

Having seen us twice in the old First Division, I do not think we will ever be on the same financial footing as the more established top clubs. I am not bothered about watching Premier League prima donnas throw themselves to the ground ( that has filtered through to all levels) but prefer to watch games where there are genuine supporters following there local team.
