    EFL Refereeing standards

Just watched Luton v Middlesborough and the refereeing was appalling. When are these refs going to be held to account for the decisions they make and their lack of consistency? Tonight a penalty was awarded to Luton that was a clear dive. I think its time for VAR in the EFL.

    Thoughts?

EFL or Prem, maybe it’s time for retrospective punishment for diving caught on camera

Fines mean nothing. Retrospective red card and 3 game bans.

I don’t want VAR. I can’t stand it. Morris should get a retrospective ban for diving. It is the only way to stop it.

I can't argue with that CAM, probably the best way to try and tackle it. Not sure it will ever be eradicated from the game though

I hope he does get a red and a ban Scum, I very much doubt he will though!

But in order to 'police' such a policy doesn't it need a VAR like system? It would be difficult to make any judgements without very detailed video evidence. You are just moving the point of decision from 'in game' to 'after game' which in reality is probably not the best place for it as in tonight's example Luton would still have the 3pts.

    I agree about VAR.
Retrospective three game ban for the offending player and three points deducted from the club.
This means the deduction of any points they may have gained from the match result PLUS three points for cheating.
If they do it again, increase the players ban to four games and the points deduction for the club accordingly.
    Can’t stand cheating!!!

What if they lost the game but still cheated? Take 3 points from them anyway? Give 3 points to the opponents anyway? That's the main problem of 'retrospection' versus doing it at the time of the offence. Video technology is needed to police it so just expand VAR despite the fact many 'hate' it.
