Saudi Arabia threat to the Premier League.

The amount of cash they are throwing at top players is staggering, £3.5m a week for Ronaldo…..Gundagon has turned down £577k per week to stay at City.

The money washing around in that region is truly staggering.

A dreadful standard of football by all accounts but as a player, if you’re on £100k in the Prem and this lot offer you £500k a week then many will jump.

I do wonder though if this is part of a massive con trick to get around Premier League financial fair play rules……..,Saudi club loans player to Premier club it owns and takes the wages hit in Saudi Arabia?

There may be some substance to your thoughts around FFP. There’s reports that the consortium that owns Chelsea is funded by Saudi PIF.

They’ve just sold 5 older players to Arab clubs including that flop Koulibaly, which surely supports Chelsea’s long term aims.
