This Coming Season And The Challenges Facing The Club

First of all a new HC to recruit .

Then there's the replacements to be found for Isted , Bobby Thomas , Tedic , Max Watters and Josh Martin .

Our captain and defensive rock Mads Andersen is almost certain to leave whilst I'd imagine it's not beyond the realms of possibility that Luca , Cadden , Jordan Williams and Liam Kitching could attract offers that could unsettle them with the no doubt extra financial possibilities for them .

What happens with Styles or Iseka possibly isn't relevant from a playing perspective but from a financial aspect it would help enormously if they weren't here so as to help the playing budget this summer .

Luke Thomas can leave the club as a free agent on the 1st of July just to add to the list of replacements we require should he indeed leave the club .

This summer looks every bit as daunting as this time last year did in my opinion so I really don't know why Khaled was so forthcoming in his remarks about this summer not as as traumatic as last .

Every factor I've stated in this post was at play whether Duff stayed here or he didn't for next season .

I think it's reasonable to suggest he saw the huge challenges this summer too even if the CEO was in complete denial publicly .

I've said this many times so will be brief.

The big problem this summer and this coming season is that we are up sh1t creek financially. Another season with Third Division income is not sustainable and there is not enough value left in the club to support four more share issues, which is the only thing that covered the day to day costs over the last twelve months.

It will determine every decision that is made or not made

It's just yet another summer of upheaval at Oakwell. I can't remember the last summer that we had that wasn't stress free and with the minimal of changes. Every year we have a new head coach and half our squad leaves to be replaced by unknown players. I'm just tired of it now to be honest, it wears you down in the end.

That about sums it up for me. We can't compete now with a lower mid table league one club who haven't tasted 2nd tier football for over 30 years and not long ago were a non league club.

    Jeez.
Should I sit in the house chewing my finger nails worrying that the bin men won’t turn up next Thursday ???
OR - should I wait and see ?
Because usually the bin men do turn up.

And after pouring £££ millions into Barnsley Football Club I’m sure the directors of the club will not write all that money off.
    They will also turn up.

All what Barnsley supporters should be concerned about at the moment is that the new head coach hits the ground running and is accepted by the players in a similar way to what Duff was.
    End of.
    Full stop.
    Period.

I don't think Luke Thomas has left because we couldn't compete with Bristol Rovers financially. He's gone because he's guaranteed to be starting games there and not being used as a squad player/sub. Barton waxed lyrically about him while he was on loan, so its no big surprise really, that he's gone there.
