    Radio Stations

Is it just me as my daughter likes Capital Radio but for me there’s to much chat and Kemp who left was good.

Love listening to Smooth Radio now. Anyone else like it? I would imagine Mick does as he likes some of the music!

I can always remember in the late 80’s when I was a holiday resort rep and being the DJ a couple of nights a week in the Prince William In Magaluf - I always played Tears for Fears - Everybody Wants to Rule the World. This is popular on Smooth 😂

Always a radio man before TV. Brought up with radio. Use to use a CB radio, then shirt wave radio listening with long wire copper aerials. But you are talking main stream radio. Still rather radio for commentary then TV commentators.

Loved Sundays listening to Round The Horne and the Navy Lark. Ken Dodd etc with my dad. It was about the only thing we did together. As I got a bit older loved listening to John Peel as he championed artists like Captain Beefheart and Frank Zappa, Wild Man Fischer and early Pink Floyd etc. Stopped listening to radio when they kicked Brian Matthews off Sound Of The Sixties on a Saturday morning. Johnny Walker on a Sunday afternoon plays Sound of The Seventies but I am always asleep on sofa so I miss it every time.

It is short wave but can't do edit on mobile phone.
I use listen to Cuba, Egypt, Syria,Mexico and many more.It was such excitement back then when you picked up the very feint wave and then the voice slowly comming in. Probably why I am an insominia person to this day . Between that and astronomy, I never really found mucth time for sleeping and still don't, glad to say.

Thats SW for you. It's why it was used extensively during the cold war...it travels mych further but is dependent on good proagation for a really good signal.

Generally only have the radio on for a bit of background noise these days. Tend to listen to a lot of high beat style stuff online while exercising and progressive house chill when cooking the tay.

I used to listen to Stuart and Ollie Henry on Luxembourg in the late 70’s late at night in bed as a t e e n ager, his unique voice due to suffering from MS.

Nowadays my car is tuned to very few stations and I listen to a 70’s station 90% of the time.
