It has been a dramatic week for Charlton with the dismissal of Dean Holden after the loss of 4 league games on the spin. The new owners had to do something as the same mistakes were being made and lessons not learnt.
So it came as a relief that the team stewarded by Jason Pearce in temporary charge, were able to salvage a win against Fleetwood. I say salvage as they came from behind to win this game, first win from going behind in a very very long time.
The first half played out badly as ex Add1cks striker Jayden Stockley who had been pressurising the defence, scored with a deserved goal. He was also very respectful in not wildly celebrating in front of the covered end. But it was Alfie May who equalised the scoring just before the break. So it was evens going into the interval.
Jason Pearce obviously said a few words during that break instilling his defensive credentials before the game played out. The team showed far more determination and energy in the 2nd half. Corey Blackett-Taylor was felled by a Fleetwood defender and up stepped May to score his 2nd goal from a penalty down the middle. And that was that, all 3 points to the Add1cks.
Charlton goals: May 43, 73 - pen
Fleetwood goal: Stockley 16
