Has anyone seen this.
The ref swings his arm around and hits a player in the face. The player raises his hands to his face in reaction to the strike and is then sent off by the ref.

I hope it is appealed and rescinded.
The ref caught him in the face, the player sort of flailed an arm in a split-second reaction. The whole thing was a big accident on both sides with zero malice. Why he's sent him off there I'll never know. Just apologise to each other and carry on playing.
It does look like a series of instant natural reactions, including the red card I would think, he's just pulled that from his pocket without even thinking about it, desperate to bring the whole farce to a swift conclusion and avoid further embarrassment to himself. How does that scene play out if he doesn't send him off?
Some of the comments I've seen suggest this ref has got form however and that he has been demoted to officiating in the NL.
Fatboy Caskey got sent off for Notts in a cup game I think for raising his hand. No malice whatsoever if I remember right. That's the letter of the law, so they said.
