I would like to know the details on this how 'Fair Market Value' is decided?
As an example Mo Salah.
Worth £200m - No Way! that is not Fair Market Value.
The man is 31 yrs old - 19 goals 12 assists last season.
I don't know how 'FMV' is quantified as Salah to the Saudi's has MASSIVE marketing potential being a high profile Muslim player. Like Benzema that top tier player in the twilight of his career.
So I get the commercial value however to quantify the actual 'Market Value' is considerably more tricky.
Maxi's sale for £23 million was way below what we NUFC fans believe he was worth due to him pulling us out of the fire on several occasions, however the fraud 6 and their stooges still complained.
These are the things, like VAR decisions that should be 100% transparent and open for all fans to see, read & understand.
yeah man I'm not comparing the two player at all.
My comment about Maxi is that 'WE THE FANS' held an inflated value for the player & he probably sold for his worth. Maybe a few millions under. £25-27.5m was were I had him in Value. If we'd got £30m for him I'd have said we did excellent business.
Salah is obviously a far far superior player however his age, contract status etc would / should (one would think) be factors by which the value is calculated.
My point, obvs I didn't convey it clearly enough, was regarding how is FMV calculated? What is the criteria? We need to have that information as fans so we can fully understand it.
Like VAR decisions & the wider FFP scope. When we listen to fans talk about FFP here on this site and the wide football supporting social media world, it's clear people have no clue how it actually works. It's all guess work and estimation. No one truly has a clue.
We need a 1 page doc detailing the process and criteria for all these things. 'A smart person is someone who can explain very complex things to children & stupid people and for the children and stupid people to understand it.'
As a stupid person I really think we/fan groups should be pushing for these documents from the EPL/FA etc. We need to re-engage with the Gov. independent regulator to push for the transparency we fans deserve.
Value is what someone will pay. Fair value has a lot more variables, not least that Salah is a celebrity as well as a top footballer.
You can’t just compare their skill as footballers - it’s the full ‘financial package’ that counts.
That’s only really applicable when it is between the same owners, and was brought in really after the Watford/Udinese shenanigans.
A Saudi club could buy Salah for 500M and there’s f**k all any authority could/would do about it.
