    Aston Villa and Brighton

Both great teams - both lost in Conference League and Europa League, respectively. I'm sure they will get back on track, and they probably didn't field their strongest sides, but it kind of puts our performance into perspective. It can be very tricky out there in Europe and we should be grateful and appreciative for our one point at San Siro.

West Ham and Liverpool won their matches. If we win two games in this group, it will be a great achievement to be honest.

    Aye - well said Hughie.

When I was listening on radio it said Villa did end up with a pretty strong team on the field.

Not really the point of your thread I know, but I think Villa and Brighton (and us) are over rated.

Villa have had a very up and down start to the season. Brighton flatter to deceive having their reputation enhanced by beating a very poor Newcastle and Man United.

Neither of these two teams will make top 4. We might but I can't it see it.

But no doubt about European competition being tough.

This is where you really see the gulf in quality between City, Liverpool and everyone else.

I agree with most of that, but a lot could depend on what we do in January. If we are mid table I think the owners will want to strengthen the squad. I hope we do because we are falling a bit short.
