At the end of a difficult week it's nice to have something positive to reflect upon. OK we are now just one place off the bottom (who is that below us?) but a battling performance against all odds against the top of the table team is at least something. Not looking good on the injury front so it's time for some of those 'sicknotes' to get off that treatment table, roll up their sleeves and answer the call of duty.
Thoughts on today's events?
Muckly betterer 🤗
I was very worried when Humphreys went off at half time.It had that 'down to 10 men feel' about it when the 2nd half began but I thought we coped very well. I'd be interested to know if MT would have gone 5 at the back if Humphreys had stayed on or did he feel it was forced upon him because it seemed to work in negating Preston's wide threats that had been the hallmark of the first half. We lacked going forward though but after an awful week a point is something to build on.We have a clear week now and we NEED at least 4 of the sidelined 7 back for then.
Well, a point against the top team looks good on paper and we didn't cave in in the second half. Pity a point only served to put us in the bottom three but we have a little rest now, time for some to recuperate then we're at home again. What's a matter with this Nombe bloke? We shelled out for him and he can't get in the starting eleven. Is he another fitness worry?
Was there but wasn't allowed to see game today but we're waiting on 2 32ish injured central defenders & one nearer 40 aged right sided defender! how did it get to this?
First of all,I`m sure we would all have taken a point before kick off,so job done.
Positives.....Tiehi(Again),Clucas,Blacket,Victor,a nd a cracking goal from Huggy.
Negatives, yet another injured centre half....WTF,I really hope Nombe is a slow starter,as at the moment,Georgie is a better bet,we really need some players back ASAP.
By the way,how are Preston top of the league ?
Will our propensity to take on perennial sick notes sink us?
Better.
An away performance and tactical setup but I don't think we had any choice in the matter.
Their goal should have been disallowed but the usual corruption / bias / incompetence set in. They did have a penalty in the last few minutes and I think the ref decided he had already cost us enough and didn't give it.
Still think our setup up top is bonkers. Knock it long hoofball is exactly not what Taylor wants to do... Apparently... Yet its what went on.
Think a more structure dedicated two up with the spare man dropping behind the front two - Clucas for me - would appear to be the ideal option once bodies are fit.
Take a bow Tyler Blackett. A colossus today and especially in the 2nd half after Humphreys went off.
My MOTM by a country mile
Well it seems like Humphrey’s is going to be out for some time. Bad hamstring injury.
