BBC headline with David Olusoga claiming "The UK is less equal than when I was young". Here we go again I thought - perhaps rather un-generously - Olusoga banging the drum about racism yet again. To be fair, I have read some of his books and found them both interesting and balanced but have also succumbed to the perception that here is an historian who could find evidence of racism in anything (not that racism is not still sadly very much alive but certainly things are a lot better than they were). But no, Olusoga is talking about the geographical inequalities of the country and the continuing London-centric imbalance of power and wealth. Alongside questioning the failures of "levelling up" he also discusses more recent fractures in the UK union. Might just check his new tv series out then as difficult not to agree with him on this one.
