It surprises me that their supporters still haven’t grasped that there are players and managers out there that sign for that club because they see the big attendances - and hear their inflated expectations - so are attracted to the club knowing they are very likely to pick up a huge payout.

They arn’t signing for the football or to better their careers.
The strategy of signing older players that have been around the block a few times is just adding to the downwards spiral.
If they do have success (eg Darren Moore) then it’s more by accident than design.
