Schar to sign a new contract

    https://www.blick.ch/sport/fussball/...19035808.html?

    Or in English, see below.

Swiss media Blick has spoken with Fabian Schar over his future at Newcastle United and claim the player hinted at at new contract at St. James' Park. The report states the Magpies have the option to extend the Swiss defender's contract for another year, with his current one set to expire this summer.

“Newcastle is my second home. Team, coach, club – I feel very comfortable. I really enjoy it and I hope that this journey continues,” Schär explained.

It goes without saying that he should be signed up for another 3-4 years. What a development he's been through and what a contribution he's made to this club.

He’s 31 I think. 2 year contact would be best for the club.

I'd say at least three. Next season he'll likely be a squad player more than a starter, but it's good to keep experience in the team, someone who knows the system and what the manager wants etc. I think he'll still be a decent player at 34-35.

Great news, 2 years with option of 3rd sounds about right for club and player.
