Thread: Luca Connell

    Luca Connell

What has happened to him. Is it down to mental health issues. As I do believe he makes the reds midfielder tick. We miss is presents. I don’t think I have ever seen a midfielder as an alert as what Luca is.

Yeah but - if it was something like that then you’d think the club would say.
    But they haven’t.
Which then starts nosey people (like me) wondering whether it’s something else like mental health.
And if it is - then the club should say that it is for two reasons really - firstly it’s nowt to be ashamed of - and secondly it would highlight that even the best can suffer from things such as depression and anxiety.

Always surprises me this - we all like to dissect the performances of footballers - often berating them - and then when you come to meet them it comes as a bit of a shock that they are just young kids fresh out of school.
Lots of pressure on young shoulders.

Luca himself may want it kept private , either way if something isn't made public there's probably a good reason why that is .

    Why speculate about it then?

It is not up to an employer to comment about a member of staffs health problems in fact the opposite , its as if some of our fans demand to know private information about our players which to be honest is out of order , to be fair to the club they appear to be acting in the best interest of the player & so should the fans .

I would say if it's anything sustained during a match or in training such as a hamstring or broken toe (meaning he is not available to play) then fans could be told the basic facts and likely timescale.

Anything else it is down to the player to make the decision about what, if anything, to say about his private, confidential medical matters. He/she alone should be the one giving the club permission to say anything.

Whatever the reason is, I for one can’t wait to have him back in the team. He really makes a difference to how we play. Yes we are playing well this season. But he is a totally different player to what we have for the middle of the park. He really makes us tick and he sets the high tempo that seem to miss at time.
