    BFC v Crystal Palace

    HT
    BFC 0
    9 corners
    9 attempts
    1 on target
    Palace 1
    1 corners
    2 attempts
    2 on target

and we have almost 2/3 possession

As someone has already asked, do we not train for set pieces at Gawthorpe?

Soft goal to give away as well.

All too easy for the opposition. No need to attack just wait for one of our players(Beyer this time) to inevitably feck up and score a quick goal whilst Vitinho was marking thin air.
Our set pieces are like Benny Hill sketches-comically bad.

We are pathetic. The old fox Roy just completely outwitted VK.All so predictable.Boos at the final whistle.Patience has run out.I really think he has to go.

And yet Roy was very complimentary about us on Match of the Day. 'If they keep playing like that the points will come.'

I always liked Roy.A true gent but yesterday that was his plan.Let us play and hit us on the counter or press us for a defensive error.

Both Beyer and O'Shea could easily have put the ball out for a throw in if they had chosen to, under a more defensive minded manager, like Dyche for instance, they may well have done so. And the Beyer cock up was the fifth time this season we have conceded a goal after coughing up possession in our own half, there may have been more, but there are five I can recall.

Having played and watched football for about 67 years, I have never yet seen any team score when the ball is firmly nestled in Row Z.

I think Gardiola has conned the coaches of modern defenders that a ball played square or back is always better than a 50/50 ball played forward quickly into a dangerous area or when necessary into row Z. I remember Arsenal losing the league cup final through a similar cock up. It's not considered a defender's number one job to keep the goals against at zero. In a similar vein are Lee Dixon's comments on zone marking "Space never scored a goal".
