I don't know if anyone else has seen this but Blackpool want to build a new stand. They are looking into compulsary purchase orders if the owners will not sell.

I think this is so wrong on many levels.

If that gets through then Blackpool council should hold it's head in shame!

It won't be the first time.

Compulsory purchase orders - surely this violates property rights?
If a homeowner on that street refuses to sell for market value, they should increase the offer until either the homeowner agrees to sell or the local council gives up because the amount is too high to justify the purchase. Anything else is morally wrong and should also be illegal.
The Liverpool thing wasn't well known? Shocking really (an old article).

The houses behind our main stand had a compulsory purchase order placed on them, but I don't know if that had anything to do with us. Somebody on here (or rivals back in the day) seemed to think we were buying them up one by one with a view to having a car park and I suppose that might have helped force the issue if we were in dialogue with the council over the future of that area. Couldn't see any mention of Notts being involved when the order was announced though.
I read somewhere that the Stags are looking to build a new stand and hotel - this will involve in some folk having their houses bulldozed.
The only benefit to these homeowners is that they are likely to get a price that’s higher than the market value. So for many, they may be happy with this.
Mmm, from 2017, it says Quarry Lane End rather than Bishop St.
