The running of Supertram services, infrastructure and finances will be controlled by South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority (SYMCA) when Stagecoach’s current contract for operation of the network ends next March.
SYMCA's transport vision includes extending tram/tram-train coverage across the Sheffield city region. New routes from Rotherham to Swinton and Doncaster.

Not been up in the area for ages so quite out of touch but what is tram/train? Does the tram go into a railway station where you disembark and change over to a train? Sorry if it appears to be a daft question but not heard of this before.
Thanks for the answers. So out of touch I didn't realise the tram runs from Meadowhall to Parkgate now (where I used to work until 1969).
And, presumably, overhead lines, or is that section already electrified?
