    Lewis Macari

The Sun reports today that Lewis Macari is going to sign permanently for Notts in January.

Hope it's true but The Sun doesn't have the best track record. He'd certainly be a welcome addition IMHO.
He's looked quality every time I've seen him. I'm surprised he didn't start yesterday. Rawlo had an absolute stinker.

I think LW picked Rawlinson for his aerial ability because Baldwin was out.
Think Macari has played well for us(and if we sign him won't cost a lot and on low wages and a decent squad player) but in a back 3 he lacks pace and aerial ability(for a centre back) rightly or wrongly that's also why he's picking Brindley ahead of him with us playing such a high line.

But he is better with ball at feet than Brinds/Rawlo. If we are going to have the ball 60/65% of the time are we really going to pick a player over another who potentially is more effective for 30/35% of a game?

Hope we do sign him and wish he'd started on Saturday. He already looks our best bet on the right of defence after only four league starts.
He hasn't looked short of pace to me, I thought he was MOTM at Crewe and not starting him since is one of the rare times I've questioned Williams choices.

I also wondered why he took Jones off against Wimbledon. He was the only one who was creating the chances..

Probably to save him wasting energy on a lost cause, and to give Chicksen a much needed run out (all five minutes of it).

Based on what I've seen of him, Lewis Macari already looks to be at least on a par with Richard Brindley, which is impressive considering the difference in first-team experience between the two. If you've got a young player who already looks first-team ready after only a handful of games, it's reasonable to think he could improve considerably as he accumulates more match time. Macari also looks capable of playing at least three positions, so that's always useful to have in smallish squad.

Another report on links to a midfielder.

Luke Williams' men have been linked with non-league star Jamie Jellis – a talismanic figure for his current club Tamworth, who are doing very well in the National League North having been promoted from the seventh tier last season.

Macari isn't the defensive super-athlete we'd need most but would still be a great signing.

We don't have enough players in his age bracket
He seems to be happy here and positive about the club
Easily good enough on the ball to be a LW defender
From his interviews, it seems he fits our criteria of good characters
Good on the right of a 3, or conventional RB if ever we revert to a 4, maybe LCB or RWB at a push.

Only seen Macari in the flesh at Gillingham and Wimbledon and I'm nowhere near good enough to judge him this soon but we definitely need more players in that age bracket.

For me anybody over Rawlinson at present.
