Indeed - good to hear a supportive commentary.
Interesting also to hear his views on Asante and no direct mention on the ‘playing out from the back’ style.

It was wasn’t it. A lot of clubs play out from the back so maybe he didn’t highlight it as specific to us? I like the way with Huddersfield and us we had one of the best defensive records in the league. 2nd and third respectively. Blessed to have him.

'Playing out from the back' has several forms and they don't all come under the same umbrella. As an example, from our perspective we have Carlos's methodical interpretation where we deny the opposition the ball and Graeme Jones's stylistically suicidal insistence of inviting the opposition on.

One method involves the whole becoming greater than the sum of it's parts by generally denying the opposition opportunities to hurt us. The other was an over evolved and under thought out attempt to transform Bartley, Hegazi and Dawson (three cloggers) into an interchangeable technical partnership on a par with the likes of Maldini.

Given the choice I know which one I prefer and it doesn't involve Bartley's painful attempts under Graeme Jones. Horses for courses and all that stuff so to speak. Does Carlos's style frustrate me at times? Yes. Did Jones's? Fkn right it did, with almost every single pass.

Apologies for not passing comment on the linked video. I'm sure it was very informative but the bloke's voice did my head in after a few seconds to the point I couldn't listen any more. A brief synopsis would be appreciated though, cheers in advance 😁 .

I think playing out in the back, has it's merits if performed correctly.
