Thread: Kompany rejected Chelsea before taking the Bayern job.

  1. #1

Kompany rejected Chelsea before taking the Bayern job.

Turns out Kompany turned down the Chelsea job for “his own reasons” before he moved to Bayern. Is there anybody else on this forum puzled by the fact that top clubs i world football wanted VK after last season.
I think he will be good at a club that has the best team in a league. He could make a good team better like us in the Championship-who knows.

So his "long-term contract" was about as much use as a once used bog roll.

I'm going off Kaiser Kompany very fast indeed.

Hope he does not mess Harry Kane about.

I am beyond mystified at clubs wanting Vincent Kompany. Kane will have much more authority at Bayern than VK and any messing with Kane will result in a rapid turnaround of managers

Well no one should be all that surprised!
Kompany stated in his press conference " he wasn't surprised Bayern were interested in him (modesty clearly isn't his biggest virtue)
He also went on to say it felt like home-said exactly the same when he joined Anderlect and Burnley.
Bayern have stated that his appointment was a unanimous decision, but Directors Hoeness and Rummenigge (Das Bild) have gone on record telling the newspaper that they voted against his appointment-Sporting Director Erbel forced the appointment. through-welcome to German football politics!!!

Vinnie, supported by Guardiola loves promoting himself and his methods.
I am sure we will all be watching closely if things don't all go to plan.

Twice as well if think CIB once wasn’t enough to turn it down - poison chalice anyway —- like i always say Chelsea are like some on here - we need to win and win now or it’s rubbish just ask pochetino who was building squad ( looked like to me anyway )

Kompany was a new manager even here with us and he cut his teeth in the premiership and it didn’t work but I don’t doubt he’ll back at some point and he’ll have improved and learned from his experiences.

Sometimes you have to fail to know how to win

Todays people in football and the fans have to have it now - that’s the difference where fans had patience now it’s win at all costs instantly- your not allowed to get it wrong ever.

I agree Army.People are saying that he will have time to get things right at Bayern and I think that is why he chose them over Chelsea. However, I dont think it will be the case.Like you say the beautiful game like everything else is now just a cash cow and instant success is demanded.
I personally think he will do well because he will have the biggest budget in the league like Pep.If he stumbles though Bayern will not hesitate to move on to the next candidate.

If he survives three years at Bayern, I'll show my arse in Burton's window.

I don’t think he has to. If he gets them winning something the first year he can go to City when Pep possibly retires.
I think he didn’t go to Chelsea because there was no chance of winning anything and it would make it hard for him to go to City after.
I will have an eye on how he does at Bayern, that’s for sure.

If he is as good as he now claims to be, winning next season's Champions League should be a piece of pi$$. After that the world is his oyster.
