Toon first , middle and last. And I'm sure Eddie would rather continue here and see the plan through than become a "part timer" with England.
There's no glory associated with that job these days.

Actually, I guess the lack of a match thread answers that one.
Would anyone swap, say, us getting 4th next season for an England win?
I mean, obviously, my answer would be f[I]u[/Ick that-for me it's Newcastle every single time but I wondered if anyone felt differently?
What prompted this was a Talkshite discussion (I know...) on whether Eddie Howe would take the England job and the concensus was if your country come calling, you can't say no.
Fwiw, I reckon Eddie would say no.

No way would I put England before my club, I don’t feel any emotion towards the england FOOTBALL team, other sports I feel different. I think it’s because of the way they are mollycoddled, and so far up their own backsides. Nobody epitomises that more than Bellingham, whingeing whenever anybody goes near him, flashy, don’t like him! Rant over.
Club every time!!! Club football is what we do week in / week out. It’s tribal, it’s raw and the top top players out there on show against each other…
When you have international competitions missing the Haalands and the like, it’s not the absolute best v the absolute best.
I just don’t see how managing England would appeal to Howe at all?? Mediocrity is rewarded and exceptionalism isn’t expected.
Maybe it was once the pinnacle of sport to represent your country, and maybe it is for the players… but for me, if you want to test yourself against the best, that’s done at club level week in, week out
I'd rather Newcastle finished 4th but I'd ****ing love to see us win a trophy as an English fan as well.
Club for me every time but I do always want England to win.
I do feel a bit of emotion now that England have just lost the final.
It's relief that that’s all over and we can now concentrate 100% on Newcastle United again.
Alreet lads. I'm +2hrs ahead of the UK so the match kicked off at 2200.
I ate and decided to take a siesta. Slept through and missed the first half. Got up and watched the last 20 mins.
It's always club over country for me. Not even a conversation.
Right now, with the state of politics and the economy in the UK, England needed a win and they bottled it.
Congratulations Spain, Commiserations England.
An excellent team through-out the whole tournament, Well deserved.
England always the brides maid never the bride. I can't fault the lads. I've voiced my thoughts about the manager. Letting a loser Manage an elite team of winners, manage to lose.
The Nation really needed to see the England team win this tournament. I just hope that the fans behave themselves tonight and we see a change for manager for the USA world cup.
Onwards and upwards!
We have quality players. We are too defensive. Unfortunately I blame the manager.
If it was a corporation and you put a guy in with a track record of Million $$$ losses every quarter the whole board of directors would be remove by share holders
The FA chose the chinless yes man and we will see him squander the greatest generation of English footballing talent i've every seen but what is the England Fan's recourse. A few bitchy headlines in the Tabloids?
Sky Sport being diplomatic & Talk Sport presenters demanding Southgates head?
The organisation is rotten to the core.
Before the tournament before he signed for Galatasaray. The FA should have fired Southgate and hired Mourinho just for the tournament. He could have still taken the job in Turkey.
If the play was to play defensive pragmatic ball then you hire a man who was won EVERYTHING in the game to manage your team of winners.
Not a man who relegated Middlesborough from the Championship to League 1 from a starting position in the play off places for the Premier League.
