    Joss Naylor

Just heard of the passing of the legend Joss Naylor who, unfortunately, few outside of Cumbria will have heard of. He’s been a constant in local news all my life and in my estimation was a top athlete, unknown only because his sport was little heard of and was more of a hobby to him. I had the pleasure of meeting him a couple of years ago when he was placed in respite care in a local care home alongside my Mum. I’d taken along a box of Sungold tomatoes and we shared half an hour eating them, just having a crack. Just an ordinary tough, hard Cumbrian bloke in his later years. He’ll be sadly missed.

Bloody hell he’s sounds quite an athlete yeah I’ve never heard of him,his choice of sport sounds mental especially that 66 mile course around 48(?) peaks within 24 hours

Thanks for sharing that story of a great man griff ,I bet that he told some horror tales of his life and sport

I once caused a little bit of chaos making a delivery to his farm in Wasdale in a 7.5 tonne vehicle,i tried to make a left turn out of his farm track but got grounded because of the angle and the camber completely blocking the road, had to run back to his farm and ask him if he could pull me back with his tractor which he did, probably only blocked the road for about 10 minutes but was nethertheless embarrassing, only met the legend once and he must have thought what an idiot.
