    At last!

That’s over, and now we can get down to the stuff that really matters. Let’s see what our new DOF is all about. Right winger, right sided CB and CF please, not necessarily in that order !

    Agree Tino mate.

I remember standing in Chasers pub, Workington West Cumbria watching the rat Owen Score that goal against Argentina.

Everyone's else's drinks went up and they started jumping around and cheers. I remember standing in the crowd of happy people remembering Southgate clogging his penalty over the bar 2 yrs earlier, knowing full well how it was going to end feeling nothing. Not like watching Shearer smash in that volley against Everton or Ginola or Robert's scorchers.

I left the pub before full time, one of my mates at the time Ady ( a total car nut, zero interest in football ) has just bought a mint condition Nova GSI a few week previous and had spent the summer modifying the suspension & fitting a full stainless exhaust and air induction kit, along with the obnixious Panasonic multi-disc stereo with a Rockford Fosgate 10" base canon along with some 16x10s I forget the brand.

We spent the rest of the evening speeding along the West Cumbria coast roads like a real pair of anti-social D**kheads. I had more fun that evening listening to Paul Oakenfold's '2 years at Cream residency' double CD as we cruised along the back roads than I did at any time over the 2 tournaments watching England fail.

That was the last time I gave a shyt about the national team.

We can now get on with the serious business of preparing for the new season ahead.
