    Are we worrying too much?

Couple of disclaimers first. I know not everyone is worrying and this is NOT a complaint thread. I'm not having a go at Eddie, the players or the club-social media, of which we a part, is awash with folk having meltdowns arguing with fans thinking there's nothing wrong at all and genuine debate seems to be lost.

I think arguments on both sides can be valid at the same time...so let's get into it.

    The case for not worrying:

We're without our best CB and haven't been able to play a settled defence for months
Some of our players haven't had much of a break due to international commitments
We have a new management team trying to bed in
PSR is designed to fuck clubs like ours over and has done so spectacularly well in our case.
We've not lost this season and won despite being down to 10 men for an hour and we came back from a losing position today
    It's only two games in
We've made a huge bid for a CB-the sort of bid some clubs could only imagine making-and one which we would have been incapable of (well, unwilling!) only 3 years ago.
    We kept our star players
We played poorly but didn't lose

The case for worrying...even just a bit...which, tbh, I am

We've had almost 3 months and haven't improved the first team
We've sold two very promising players and had to do so on the last day possible
Staveley and Ghodoussi left in a very unexpected way-were they sacked because of the PSR/Ashworth thing?
Harvey Barnes has been complaining about not starting
Gordon was throwing his arms up today-he must be pissed off that we were prepared to flog him and he's played these last two games like his head isn't totally right
Ditto Tripps-his off the field antics have surely had a negative impact on his performances
We're still starting players like Murphy, Longstaff and Krafth-yes, you need a squad, but in the second game of the season?? That tells a story.
Most importantly for me, our high press and high intensity attacking play is nowhere to be seen and we're clearly sisceptible to teams doing the high press to us-if a newly promoted team and Bournemouth can cause us massive trouble then better teams will have a field day.

I'm sure I've missed stuff in both sections so feel free to add

    Thoughts?

I can't understand where our high press game has gone too. Granted we haven't got the best starting eleven but the ones who now start would have been on the field or subs last two seasons and the game plan seems to be totally different to the season before last.. Almost starting with a tinge of fear and letting the opposition come on to us and take control instead of us being pressing in their half from the word go.

It did work well often giving us an early lead and putting them on the back foot early. Why can't we still do it with the players we have.

Yes, I am worrying a bit - which I wasn't at the start of the season. OK, maybe we need a bit more time. No inspiring signings yet. A management change that looked as though it might take a wee bit to bed in and not rock the boat.
But, on the other hand, less mental and physical pressure because of no European games. The new management structure seems to be directly targeting our injury record.
So, an opportunity to return to our "intensity is our identity" football is what I expected. Not much sign of it in much of today's match, though.
Yes, Bournemouth were both well organised and lively. But I expected us to put up a better show than that. Too often we were really sluggish. Too many back passe, too little creative intent.
It did not look like a team brim full of confidence. Confidence that they can dominate and win most games. I think that is what we should be at the moment with our current squad. OK, there's no Botman or Schar, but our midfield and attack is more than decent. Surely we should be able to press hard and worry Bournemouth a lot more than we did today??

It’s too early to worry but the truth is we’ve had a turbulent summer with PSR issues, removal of Mehrdad and Amanda from the board and various other changes in staff including Paul Mitchell coming in as SD. All the upheaval seems to have spread to the players given we’ve played two games against bottom half sides and been largely outplayed in both. That said, we’ve won one and drawn the other, which is always a tricky fixture for us, so it’s not all doom and gloom.

I’m confident we’ll sign Guehi this week. We’re massively overpaying for him but he is a good CB who can play out from the back. On the negative side, I think Murphy and Miggy are going to be our RW options yet again unless Eddie goes with Barnes, who was great when he came on yesterday, on the left with Gordon the right.

Yes I AM worried, the high press and bullying which was our hallmark have gone? Is it because of the injuries last season? Maybe the new guy, not Mitchell, has had some input on this although I would imagine Eddie having something to say about it. I hesitate to say this but Joelinton could find his place under threat when Tonali comes back, maybe a midfield of Bruno, Tonali and Willock would give us more energy, Joe looked exhausted, how can he be! On the CB situation, part of me hopes we don’t get Guehi, he’s overvalued and overhyped, I only hope Mitchell has something up his sleeve to surprise us all, but I doubt it somehow.

Big Jo was amazing first game, yesterday he was poor.

Gordon hasn’t looked interested since the first game… some might say he’s had his head turned only by Liverpool interest, but I’d prefer to think he was pi$$ed that the club were prepared to sell him… so he might now have his head turned, but I think we have no one else to blame but ourselves (the club) for discussing this with Liverpool at all… but he also did score yesterday, so it’s not like he’s not gonna do a job, but he’s also not his usual self.

Willock is back and Tonali will be back next game to, so we have options to swap out Big Jo and Longstaff.

Kelly isn’t too bad and Osula needs to get some minutes… and maybe the Carling Cup is the perfect chance to do that.

I think the squad needs a lift, we have up to 70m at least to spend, and it would be good to see some new faces come in… and this delay in Guehi deal could well be dragging people down.

I think we’ll see Tripps go and Miggy go… and I’m hoping we’ll see some incomings, and outgoings, and when the window shuts the uncertainty will be over (for now) and we can just concentrate on football with the players we have.

Even though I understand our hands are tied and there’s been a big upheaval at board level, it’s been a very poorly handled transfer window to date… and my big worry is we panic and make silly sales and/or purchases right at the end of the window.

I will only worry if we lose anyone of note this window. If we get one or two then its game on and the optimismeter hits 8 or 9.

Eddie won't be manager next season..

He's put all his eggs in one basket for Guehi and is failing..

    Horrid window..

    I don't worry.

Either the recruitment team deliver or they don't.

If they don't, what would be the point of bringing them to the club in the first place?
