    Devante Cole

What’s he like lads? Have we signed a Stella signing or is he another donkey? Hope he does not join Dike in the treatment room where he’s been since coming to us 🤣

His workrate and attitude became much better during his second spell with us. His goalscoring ability was never in question in my view but his attitude certainly was. Many Barnsley fans may disagree with me on that I don't know.

The young Devante I remember in his first spell on loan with us back in 2014 was one of a spoilt and entitled kid. However, he matured into a very good striker when we signed him permanently 3 years ago from Motherwell. He went on to serve our club very well in these last 2 seasons and won my respect without a doubt.

I hope he's successful in the rest of his career. Can he do it at your club with better players around him? I hope so but in my heart I think his true level is high end league 1/lower end Championship.

BTW, what has Dike and his injuries got to do with us or Devante Cole?

Thanks for this! Nothing as Dike appeared decent for you but just been unlucky!

I’ll be honest, I’m surprised at this deal. He clearly did very well in the first half of last season and I expected him to easily get more than 20 goals for the season but from January onwards, he was poor.

I thought, at a push, he’d end up at one of the promoted sides so to get himself a deal with a team that should be aiming for the playoffs, it’s a great deal for him.

I can’t see him getting too many minutes for you and would expect to see him out on either January or next season.

Who knows though, I’ve been wrong many times before and will be many more times too. Maybe he’ll get a few goals early on and play with loads of confidence.

Hey Baggie Albert lol, he had his best time with us in the first half of last season. 👍
However, after the January window closed, he seemed to drop his head regularly in matches, and he went missing far too often.
He also did that the previous season as well, under Duff.

Good move for all concerned in the Cole family---

Devante has probably at least doubled his wages.

Andrew, his agent, has secured Devante a place at a solid Championship club.
