    Dilemma #2

Out of Tripps, Burn, Hall and Livramento, who would be your starting pairing?

I think we need to be bold and, if they're both fit, Hall and Livramento should start. (I don't think we will, though).

Fan of BDB as you know, but he should be a back up at FB. Tripps starts if his head is in the game, if not the other 2.

    Nice one…

The future is clear, but for next season? I just don’t know!!!

Tripps definitely has another good year left in him, and his leadership qualities and creativity for me means he needs to be in and around the team.

BDB… seems, or at least seemed, key to EHs tactical plans for set pieces. And would be missed if not in the team!

However, for me… both were responsible for a number of goals against in a big dip in defensive form last season.

Hall and Toni still have a lot to learn from these two, and it will really depend on the style EH wants to implement for next season.

If he decides to go for the ‘we’ll score 1 more than you’ philosophy, BDB and Tripps may well be the better option!

But I like to see much more from Hall and Tino this season… after all it is a squad game and they will all need to be used.

But to actually answer the Q Trippier and Tino

Eddie will probably not have as rigid starting line up next season should everyone be fit.

At home against Southampton. It should be our most attacking team.

Hall has proven his ability and we've see Eddie trusted him more and more towards the back end of last season.

However he does love BDB. I recon Schar and BDB will play CB.

Hall will start LB. I don't know where Kelly is in terms of fitness, however he'll be in the mix for a LB start no doubt.

RB, again totally depends on fitness, when Tripz comes back to Benton from Dubai, how close will he be to match fitness?
Tino's pre-season minutes and recovery from the last season injury will all play a part in that decision.

Personally, when fully fit, I'd start Tino and Hall at home & Tripz and Burn away at fullback.

If we're gonna play more defensive on the road and shore up the leaky defence we need to make sure we have tools to do that across the whole season.

Eddie has the variety of players defensively at his disposal now to mix it up and manage work loads.

    Great to see!

    Great call.

Till Botman is back I think it'll be Schar and BDB in centre.

On flanks, I'd be starting Hall but between Tino and Trips. . . to be honest, it depends if Trips is head is back where it needs to be.

I think Rag might be right on it changing home and away.

I also think we should be bold but like Zip, think it's unlikely.

In the 22/23 season we were electric.

Just to see the full squad of Bruno, Joelinton, Willock/Tonali, Isak, Gordon, Pope, Trippier, Barnes, Murphy, Tino, Hall, BDB, Schar run out in the late summer sunlight, Knopfler's Local Hero blazing loud as it hits the Sax Solo crescendo, the roar of the Geordie nation is exciting me.

It's been a long time since all the top players are on the pitch, more or less. No tired legs, drilled and fresh. Ready to go!

    Can't wait!

Knowing EH, the starting pair will be 90 % based on current form.
I can’t believe people on tw*tter saying we can sell Trips now because Tino is good enough. They’re still ‘locked’ into Ashley era thinking. We need at least two first team standard players for each position and so selling one of these 4 makes no sense to me.

exactly we can afford to keep them both on the books this season. The Sale of Minteh and Anderson secured this futures accounts.

Everyone in football circles are all talking about the 'off-field' C-Suite recruitment as a massive win for NUFC. Silverstone, Mitchell, Eales etc are all top performers.

Even GQ magazine have hailed the 3rd kit launch as a global success!

We're cooking on gas and everything is going in the right direction rapidly.

    delighted to see it all!
