    William Osula

Appears to be on his way to us from Sheff Utd. 20 year old striker (and winger?) for 10 million. One for the near future.
If true, looks like Wilson is staying.

    Quite happy with that tbh.

I know nothing about him hope he fits in, also happy Wilson is staying ( he scores goals) however it still feels like Mike Ashley era

TO be fai - Sheff Utd didn't score many goals full stop

We're going to have to get use to paying this sort of money, for this sort of player to be honest. He could well be one that we buy and then sell for hte profit margin.

At 10 million, what have we got to lose? Our scouts have obviously seen something in him and no top name’s going to serve second fiddle behind Isak (and Wilson?) at Newcastle. I’m looking forward to seeing how he develops.

    Good potential, by all accounts.

Timing is key in how people view this. If it was after a couple of really good signings, it would be seen as building for the future but, as it is, it's got folk saying they're not impressed.

I guess it's underwhelming because our business has been poor so far. Not the business we've done but what we've failed -so far-to do.

They wouldn't pay even that sort of money without thinking he had promise and it's another place taken up by a youngster with a one at the other end having to leave, hopefully.

True but it’s really no surprise that only the less spectacular signings are done early when remembering how agents operate. They have zero interest in doing business before the very end of the window and when you add the transfer ‘chains’ involved (ie one transfer depending on another) it’s no surprise that things happen late.
I was reading earlier that Mitchell’s signings are seldom ‘noisy’ and so Thiaw is unlikely, it said.

    Alreet all.

Just popped in to see what the vibe was on this lad.

Mostly positive I see with a light sprinkling of underwhelmed mid-summer grumbles. haha

Personally. Anyone who's gonna come in now with the approval of Howe, Mitchell & Nickson is gonna be pretty decent. Track record speaks for itself.

Nickson has been with the club for a decade and picked out some absolute gems that fatso just wouldn't fork out the cash for.

Mitchell's rep is unquestionably stella & Howe will be satisfied with the mentality of the kid, that being his main concern. The psychology of the new recruits to maintain harmony of the group and also the personal development side of things.

So if the 3 are all in accord & we're paying just £10 to a max of £15million, this could represent a massive Coup!

I'd rather see the club pay £15m for a this lad than go out and Spend £60m on a Hyped up 18yr old French centre back who never wanted to sign for the club (cough cough).

    3 things can happen.

1 - his a dud and we sell him to a lower league team for £10m as we won't pay 'add-ons' for a dud
2 - He's becomes a cult hero, never sets the world on fire but does the job and the fans take to him
3 - Develops into a top quality player and helps the club to silverware this or next season

All outcomes have benefits for the club. We're not recruiting Emmanuel Rivière here, this kid has Prem Experience. Sure he's not found the net yet but it'll come with the tutelage of Isak, Wilson, Howe et al!

It's a decent bit of coverage in a 20yr old player (doesn't have to be registered in the squad as he's under 21) who doesn't take up a squad number.

He signed for Shef U in 2018 which means he's classed as 'Homegrown' in the nation which is sweet for any European quotas going forward too.

    Lot of positives.

As I've said, whoever the recruitment team bring in I'm gonna be happy with as these guys are class! I don't care if we spend £1m or £100m.

He's got 0 goals in 21 games in a bad Sheffield United team

Gordon had 4 goals in 34 games and we paid 45m for him..

He won't be first choice but let's give the lad a chance.. no way we buying a 50m striker to play second fiddle to isak
