    Crewe alexandra post match thoughts

Been tonight as I love everything football.

I thought I might see something different tonight after visiting Exeter but it is evident 'hoofball' is back in town. Credit to Crewe because everything we launched at them, they dealt with as JCH ????, jury's out on him, and Nombe both seem to want the same 2 square yards in front of goal. They play far too close in each others face, it simply won't work.

Saw earlier where someone posted we could have been 4-5 goals up in the first half but our finishing was woeful, I concur.

Why Evans persisted playing McDonald 4' 10'' at right back the entire game was baffling because in the second half, their big sub battered him. Obviously smacks of favouritism there me thinks or, Evans is just deluded with his crazy set ups. Don't get me wrong, McDonald is a trier and carries the ball out well and has a good throw in but, he is not our right back answer.

Thought he might have brought Holmes on after 60 minutes in his place but it didn't materialise.

McWilliams, what did he bring to the game tonight? Clipped for a foul on 62 minutes then he was claiming he had cramp, ffs, he's an athlete and going down with cramp just after an hours play??? pfffft!

Raggett clears well in the air, McCart did better than Exeter and James did very well. Powell for me was our best player on the night. He played very well in the middle breaking up play and looks to have a very good engine in him. I thought that when he came on at Exeter.

Odoffin when he played, just threw himself at everything, scored a goal, could have had a hat trick and looked like he's busting a gut to get a new contract or, looking to impress anyone caring to look at him. I hope it's not the latter.

Liked the look of Dawson , solid, secure, and couldn't do anything about MacDonald's gaff and well taken goal from the Crewe player.

Overall, I'm happy we won but there's a lot to work on and I'm oh so glad saying I would be happy finishing mid table this season before a ball was kicked, it's looking like that so far but, there's a long way to go and hopefully we can only get better.

Forgot to add, thought Nombe was the better of the two up front and thoroughly deserved his goal and MOTM award. Worked his socks off tonight.

Wonder what Hugill thought of Osong coming on in front of him?

Yak, very frustrating indeed. The chances we had to score when we missed were embarrassing.

Better than last Saturday. Nombe better than Hugill. James, Kelly, Dawson to start Saturday.

27 shots tonight (attempts on goal).

We didn't get that many under Leam Richardson's entire tenure 🤣

Nombe better than JCH, I wonder if Evans will start Nombe on Saturday now?
