    Mickey mouse motors trophy.

I know a lot don't like the competition but I thought I'd go and have a look last night. Okay, the squad numbers of the opposition ranged from the mid-40s to 99 and there were a lot of youngsters but it was still a good game to watch. Interesting to see Harvey Davies in goals for them.
In terms of the play, it was good to see Long looking enthusiastic and getting his eye in. He scored 2 but should have had 5 in his 45 minutes. Another player who stood out was Knight-Lebel. He looks class. Roberts and Thibault both look to have good futures.
Good to see the Alex move the ball around quickly. The 5th goal was a lovely sweeping move which led to Thibault scoring from his first touch. Lunt should start to make more appearances as the season goes on -tigerish in the tackle and pretty good at keeping the ball
People who didn't really set the pitch alight, interestingly included Agius who was pretty anonymous. Tabiner didn't really stand out either. Yet to decide about Breckin - can't see what his role is. Connelly again dithered a lot.
In the end, it may be said that the game was an irrelevance. However, for some players it was a welcome exercise in confidence building, which is always important.

I didn't go but I did see most of the game on the bang average Sky Sports coverage. I pretty much agree with all you say there. I don't much like the competition these days as I am not convinced about the benefits of playing under 21 teams. That said, it was a good run out for some of our players and all looked pretty good on the night. Delighted to see Long looking sharp and getting a couple of goals too. Where I differ from you is that I thought Breckin looked very good. Clearly I would like to see more of him in league matches as that will give a better indication of where he is at.

Just seen the clip for the final goal and noticed a tremendous burst of speed from Breckin to receive the (amazingly pinpoint) pass from Lankester. I didn't notice this on the night.
