    Non League Bank Holiday Monday.

A trip up to The Hawthorns to buy my grandson’s first ever season ticket ahead of his first game with me on Saturday and then I’m off to see Stourbridge FC away at Redditch, both sides having made good starts.

Some good local teams around, give your local side a try.

As you know Mick, I am an avid supporter of non league football and regularly watch my local team Folkestone Invicta. On Saturday, I watched our game then walked home to watch the prima donna Premiership on the box. What a contrast from players giving their all for a few quid to overpaid players constantly going down attempting to cheat the referee. I know which one I prefer.

A great 3-1 away win for Stour today against a strong Redditch side on the hideous 3G pitch.

Crowd looked good as well, possibly 1300-1500.

Stour will go up this year from what I can see, great afternoon out.

I went to see Kettering Town v Harborough Town today but it was a dreadful match, just constant hoofball. Any skill on show was by Kettering and were one up at half time. I left about five minutes from the end, it really was dire to watch and when home, I found out that Harborough snatched an equaliser at the death; totally undeserved. Then, to set the seal on the afternoon, my wife has just tested positive for Covid!

Are they still playing at that dump of a ground I met you at Kets?

Yes, they are. KTFC were thoroughly screwed by previous owners, lucky to still be in business. The old ground, Rockingham Road, has been covered with ticky tacky houses, outrageous.

Will you be coming over for the Stourbridge match against Kettering?

Probably not Kets, I don’t do longer journeys and cold winter matches any longer.

Actually, after yesterday’s performance I may struggle to find the motivation to go to another game there, it was so dire. I don’t know how I managed to watch it for the 85 minutes that I did, although there was a fair bit of time observing the stewards dealing with a number of miscreant youths; much more entertaining than the football!

I saw some nice football yesterday, as always, it depends on the managers style.

Here’s our second goal from yesterday and behind the goal you can see part of our away following, we travel in big numbers for a club at this level.

Highlights of our 3-1 win at Redditch yesterday, we scored three very good goals.

We also have a terrific away kit in the colours of the Black Country flag.
