    Jimmy Glass

The great escape..Wow,just watched this on sky ,great programme and what an ending for Carlisle,I presume you was on the pitch at the end Griff.😁 Got to feel a tad sorry for Scarborough though. Their fans were distraugh and they went out of existence eventually..so sad.

Reminds me of when Burnley were in the same.position of going out of the league and we had to beat Orient in the last game and rely on other results to stay up.Fortunately we managed it,but if we had lost I think we would have done the same as Scarborough and gone put of existence ..Look at us now, funny old game football .
Didn't end well for Glass and Pearson though Carlisle got shut ASAP..🙂

I was living in NE Somerset at the time, listening on Radio, Sky and BBC. The lad gave me a shout from upstairs, “GLASS HAS SCORED!!” To which I replied “who?” We had to get a loanee in because the FGB (fat greedy ******* Micheal Knighton) sold the others. Watching Scarborough’s reaction on the field at full time was at once funny, sad and tragic. It’s just a pity that it wasn’t long after that we went down anyway. We won the playoff at Stoke to get back up at the first time of trying and yes, I was at that one.

I remember Jeff Stello shouting about it on Soccer Satdy.
Saying that 'by rights', the player (Glass) shouldn't even be at the club, let alone playing today. 😧
Was he right to say that, as I don't know what the controversy was about.
But it was extremely hard on Scarbrough Fc and their fans, which they sort of never recovered from.

We were given FA or FL permission to sign him, so it’s a moot point.

I have always loved Jimmys story, three games until the end of the season and your not getting at game at your parent club then you get a call from Carlisle because they have no goalie to finish the season ,the loan was perfectly legal and had permission from the FA as griff says so it wasnt controversial him being there, then he gets his 15 minutes of fame which as we are still talking about lasted a bit longer,Carlisle are all but relegated with 10 seconds to go but have a corner,Jimmy runs up and scores and Carlisle stay up,fantastic stuff that dreams are made of,his boots are in the National Football Museum and the goal is often mentioned in the greatest ever goals in football

I would sooner have a pint with Jimmy talking about his greatest day than I would any top premier league footballer,as for Scarborough well they got relegated because of their performance over a season not in the final game ,if they had scored one more game in the previous 42 games (or whatever) then would have stayed up but they didnt
