    Rip sven

RIP Sven. Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away. He was 76. Such sad news. Lovely, fascinating man, and a very good manager

Seemed like a nice amiable bloke but in regards to football management I never got the hype with him.

I honestly couldn’t see what he brought to the party, basic 4-4-2 and given the quality of players at his disposal such as Gerard, Owen, Lampard, Ferdinand, Terry and plenty of others we were average to watch and underachieved as usual.

Nice guy though and may he RIP after such an awful illness.

Full respect to Liverpool for honouring the dream for him to manage the side in the final months. Awful way to go for anyone and so sad,

Some great achievements as a manager, but, outside of the UK probably.

He led a bunch of amateurs and semi-pros to win the UEFA cup with IFK Göteborg, vs a, then, top club in Europe (Hamburger SV).

With Lazio in Italy he won the league/Serie A and the Cupwinners cup. Won titles with Benfica in Portugal too.

I know his CV was a good one Thomas but I just found his football to be extremely rudimentary and boring.

That is probably true Mick, simplicity is sometimes successful, and successful can be boring to watch.

We had some really good players though Thomas but played in such a rigid and boring system.

At Lazio he was remembered for the beautiful football the played when they won Serie A. So, it was probably different in other countries and times.
