    We’ve never been on the radar for national service. Aston Villa can have one decent season and players get a call up.

    I think this is why England will probably never be up there with the likes of other countries, perhaps like Spain, who give young people an opportunity over older players.

    We, nationally, football wise that is, are a little yesteryear. We really need to move on and exploit the talent we have nationally. But we won’t will we.!

    I don’t agree, I think this is one thing that Southgate completely changed.

    Players like Saka, Bellingham, Foden, Ghui, Rashford and others were in the side extremely early, some at 18 and 19.

    Due to my lack of knowledge on European football I’d never ever heard of Sancho when he was brought back from Dortmund to play.

    Mainoo starred at 18 this past summer.
