    Man United v Barnsley

It has been confirmed that Barnsley will take on Manchester United at Old Trafford on Tuesday 17th September, in an 8pm kick-off.
The Reds gained entry into the third round after beating local rivals Sheffield United at Oakwell and will now head to Manchester to face the Red Devils in front of 74,000 fans. Barnsley have been awarded an allocation of 7,393.
Ticketing information for the fixture is as follows:
    Adults: £41/£42
Senior 65+: £33/£34
Young adult 18-20: £33/£34
Under 18: £25/£26
Under 16: £20/£20

That's going to put quite a few off in my opinion but I'm not surprised at the prices to be honest .

Someone's got to pay for the catalogue of player fails they've had over the last 12 years .

    Manchester United Information

Not wanting to tell everyone how to suck eggs here and it only really applies for anyone on here who will be travelling to Old Trafford by car .

As I mentioned the other week I took the wife over for United's first home game of the season last month so most of this information is based on my experience that night .

1 , Give yourselves plenty of time getting over there , the motorway is mental all the way , speed restrictions down to 40mph most of the way and it grinds to a halt several times .

2 , The nearer you want to park close to the stadium the more problematic it will be after the game , you might not move for up to an hour .

3 , We came in the Salford way and it wasn't too bad once you left the motorway , surprisingly , it was kicking up 7pm too with only an hour to kick off and wasn't too bad , I'd probably advise everyone to come in to Old Trafford that way .

4 , By coming in this way there's loads of parking provided by workplaces who open their car parks up , it costs you £8 but it's secure and off the road .

5 , However even though you can clearly see the stadium once you've parked up it's further than it looks , a good 20 minute walk but it works in your favour after the game because by the time you get back to the car the traffic is a bit lighter , I do say a little .

6 , Plenty of proper street food outlets as you walk towards the stadium , tons of them although food inside Old Trafford is pretty varied too , not much difference in price either which again was surprising .

7 , Before you get to the turnstiles there are searching stations positioned , a bit like you see inside airports , you'll have to put your phone , keys etc on a tray and walk through the scanner and pick them up once your through .

I can't think of anything else but if I do I'll post it on this thread .

It puts a NowTV pass at £20 a month into perspective lol.

Mickey Mouse cup ffs, £41 a pop?

Ethel doesn’t pay to enter Oakwell and won’t be, and would never, pay £41 to watch a third rate competition.

    Life’s becoming a joke.

A very thoughtful post Animal and im sure it will help people out. However with ticket prices at £41 a pop plus all the arse ache that you've mentioned, it seems too much trouble to me.

Personally I always go by train to away games but with this being an 8pm kick off, thaz no chance o gerrin back from Manchester Piccadilly to Barnsley via train after match. If tha lucky tha might get back as far as Sheffield, Leeds or Huddersfield but that's no good.

Best bet is probably to stay at ooam wi a 4 pack and watch it on telly and thats what al be doing.

Feck me a still can't get mi eeard rarnd them prices forra 3rd rarnd league Cup tie ffs

If a family o 4 went in a car, it'd cost £122 for 2 adults and 2 under 16s, a scooar in petrol, 8 quid parking plus another £50/60 if the got some snap and drinks. That's ova 200 nicker forra evening art at football plus inconvenience and arse ache o driving through M62 or Woodhead pass in tea time traffic. Feck that!

Assuming 74,000 attend Old Trafford at an average of say 35 quid a ticket meks gate receipts ova 2.5 million quid.

Bfc will be due over a million pounds for this tie. ....

I'm not sure 74,000 will want to pay £41 on a school night to watch Third Division Barnsley.

If they do and BFC receive over a million we can go straight into the free agent striker market--Dwight Gale for a season ? Or maybe it will go quietly into club running costs.

I personally would call for a total boycott from the Barnsley fans, the pricing from a club who have shown in the past total disrespect for domestic cup competitions is a total disgrace , they are asking fans to pay top dollar to watch a lot of their second string , I just hope the footballing gods do their job and somehow we manage to get through but in the mean time my message to our fans is simply " boycott the game " !!
