    Holidays…..is it just me?

I’m flying to Peyia in Cyprus today but the last 24 hours and the next few hours are horrendous for me.

Flying doesn’t bother me at all but the stress of packing properly, remembering all of our medication, splitting it up so that we have a back up supply if main luggage gets lost and then the general airport hassle and routine is a nightmare for me.

Add to that, wondering if you’ve picked the right hotel and destination when you’ve never been to that place before and it’s a cocktail of horror for me.

It wasn’t like this for me 20 to 30 years ago but with each passing year I get worse with this.

Any other travel anxiety people out there?

No pure pleasure I hope. Never been on a foreign business trip. Always been fascinated by how others live and architecture as long as I'm in 5 star. The Great Wall has long been on my bucket list.

End October I'm off to Devon with wet weather gear for som proper R & R and minimal travel stress.

Not me no. I have a canny nack of avoiding holiday anxiety by staying at home and offsetting everyone else's air miles. I'm sponsored by Greta. The pay's s hit by the way 😃 .

Now you know why I haven’t been away for over 20 years. I don’t even like travelling further than a 10 mile radius of home. The triggers build up like a snowball till I’m ready to kill someone.

Same here. Last overseas trip was around 2015 to Everest Base camp in Nepal. In fact, the other day I realized I no longer even have a valid passport anymore. It expired some time back.
    Enjoy your holiday Mick.

Used to love all that, tdhe excitement of going somewhere new and loved the flying etc. Not any more. Doubt I will ever go abroad again. Sad but to be honest I could not care less. Wondering if i will end up in a motorway hold up is as much as I am prepared to worry about now.

No stress for me as can’t wait to get into the sun and see the sites especially architectural ones.

Stress of going anywhere in the U.K. would be far greater - traffic - s hit weather - yobs - inflated costs usually double to overseas.

Even on a plane I can relax and switch off by reading a book or drinking a glass of wine. You can’t really switch off by driving in the U.K. from A to B!

I do understand the older you get the more you don’t want to go overseas!

Just the opposite. The older I get the more foreign travel I want to cram in whilst I am still fit and well. I don't like the hassle of getting there and back if it's flying (I'm rubbish at sitting still) but balance this by extending the break usually for around a month. Also very happy to take days to drive through Europe and spend a few weeks exploring countries like Spain and Italy. Also enjoy the occasional cruise both ocean and river.

Oh the joys of being retired.
