    Ot swans

    A swan can break a man's leg.
Apparently, but I can't remember any of my mates getting mutilated by a swan around thrybergh pounds. Anyone else been attacked?

Crash, nice to see you posting again, trust your trip to the coast was a good one pal.

To answer your question, I was once fishing and here's the great part to this story. It was a Sunday morning and where I fished was pretty secluded so I had my radio playing, ( a no no to any fisherman close by), and I was listening to Dave Lee Travis.

He was asking listeners to call in answering 3 questions in order to win a prize. I thought I've got this so called in and heh presto got through to speak to the Hairy Monster himself. As we started talking I got a bite and thought s.hite what do I do now, I'm live on air talking to Dave when out of nowhere this swan came from my blindside and started to attack me, I kid you not. It just wanted to bite my feet, ferking weird.

I'm shouting at the swan to do one, DLT asks me what's going on, I explain I'm currently fishing and being attacked by a swan, DLT burts into fits of laughter, I can't make the swan feck off but somehow eventually did and suddenly I'm still on air with DLT who by now has finished explaining to his listeners all is good.....

I attempt to answer the 3 questions but alas I only got two correct. DLT said he'd never laughed as much in his life live on air, I was also laughing and thanked him for taking my call before ending the call. Oh, the fish was still on the hook which I eventually netted.

I suppose a small claim to fame talking live on radio to DLT while being attacked by a swan whilst trying to land a fish .

I worked in a quarry Crash on heavy plant, there was a pair of swans Cob & Pen in one
of the ponds I pumped water out of for washing sand & gravel.
I got both of them to come to me & hand fed them, when they had cygnets, they
brought them up to me, then Cob & Pen would go back on the pond & leave me to
    cygnet sit.
They trusted me & came to me everyday I worked, my wife said we are using a lot of
bread, because I was taking it for the swans, she thought I was eating it all.

ELK, the swans at Rother Valley will gladly come to you to be hand fed. The stories of swans being vicious are a myth, they are beutiful creatures with a delicate nature given the chance to show you.

I hate to read where coward gutless scum have killed swans with crossbows and pellet guns/ rifles. I would like to let them, run free, for 5 minutes, then start to track/hunt them down only to hit them with a crossbow in the chest or if required for longer range use a pellet gun or rifle to end their miserable coward lives and see how they feel as their life ebbs away.

Swans are gracious in their ways and understandably the Kings bird. Your story by the way was heart warming pal.
