    Aidie Moses

On the Newsnow Barnsley fc site this morning there is a very interesting article in which Aidie Moses spells his thoughts out on Neil Collins tenure at the club , he points out basically how he was given a bad hand by the powers that be by selling his goalkeeper plus half his defence and left him with a weakened squad but somehow Collins managed to get them a record away winning run , the most away wins in the season and 3rd highest scorers in the league , he also pointed out that despite all his handicaps he managed to keep them in a play off position all season and that with one game to go the board made a panic decision to move him on and made an error by not giving Collins the chance at the play offs , now we all have our opinions but for a player of Moses standing with over 200 appearances for the club including a season at the top level to basically say that the suits got it wrong you have to sit up and take notice , well done Aidie because I feel he might have upset a few of the big hitters down at Grove st but the thing is Aidie will have forgotten more than the spreadsheet mob know about football and his comments have to be respected , well done Aidie.

    Correct Shads.

Not the greatest season to be a spectator at Oakwell but Collins worked miracles with the hand he was dealt. Diabolical decision on many levels sacking him one game before the Play Offs.

Maybe, just maybe, it is not always a constant flow of wisdom and truth from Grove Street.

(When I saw the thread title I thought we had signed him as a free agent to bring some guidance and experience to the defence. )

I wished we had unearthed another Aidie Moses as he would be head and shoulders above the others at this level ! I realise the Collins episode is history now and we have done it to death but I thought the views of well respected ex pro like Moses would interest reds fans.

    I’ve read the article.
Moses knows Collins - so he ain’t gunna say owt controversial, nar is he ?
So Moses decides to spout a load of baloney.

I didn’t speak to any Barnsley fan that thought we had a chance of winning the playoffs under Collins.
    Not one !!!

BTW the Directors did NOT go out to sell our defence.
    That’s totally untrue.

Thomas - was a loan player.
Kitching - they tried hard to keep him - but he was determined to go - he was sold for one of the highest amounts for a 3 tier defender.
Mads - there was an agreement with him to let him go - the club honoured that agreement.

We have had a string of head coaches over this last few years - I can’t think of any of them that didn’t inherit a changed team - all of them went on to mould the new team together.
    Collins didn’t.

With the quality of players at his disposal, I cannot remember a worse H/C at Oakwell.
He didn’t get poached like Stendel, Struber, Ismael or Duff.
Collins got the sack - all the proof you need - telling you everything you need to know.
    End of.

Stendel's squad was more or less the same.

Stendel was sacked in the November after gaining promotion

Worse HC's in recent years--try Morais, Schopp, Asbaghi

Struber, Ismael and Duff applied for posts they thought had better prospects

So Moses has been described as talking baloney, an ex pro who had a very good career including a spell in the top flight , I personally respect his opinion because he clearly has more experience and knowledge of the game than some of our self proclaimed experts who spout anything on social media in a bid to be controversial , I know who"s comments I respect and find credible .

Stendel was sacked for talking about a move to Huddersfield.

Morais was at the start of the change in direction.
Personally I don’t give him much blame for what happened.

Schopp and Asbaghi - I see you are supporting and excusing the actions of Paul Conway - yet again.
When is this going to stop !!!
The man was found to be a fraud.
But we still get some supporters supporting him by saying Schopp and Asbaghi were failures - even when we know - in his own words - Conway was managing the team at that time.

We can debate until the cows come home whether Struber, Ismael and Duff made a move - or the club they went to made the move.
Thing is - they were wanted by other clubs.

    Collins wasn’t.

Had to laugh at the iFollow commentary against Stevenage.
Lo and behold up pops Aidie Moses - and the first thing he sez is - players in the Barnsley team are showing much more confidence this season than they were last season.

    I wonder why that is ??? 😂

Yer just couldn’t make it up.
