    Fake or Fortune…

Do you like art Frank,I’ve got no special interest in it but the amounts of money that some pieces of art can attract staggers me,something like a quick scribble by Lowry on the back of a Park Drive fag packet can go for low thousands while if it was by me then it’s in the bin

Last nights Fake or Fortune had a water colour of a flower supposedly by Piet Mondrian which turned out to be a forgery, value around £200 but if it was by Mondrian then £250,000,it’s still the same painting, nothing has changed about it but it’s looked at in a different light now,the art world is seriously delusional,Banksys works aren’t worth the money that they attract for starters, stencils on walls worth high hundreds of thousands what next,it’s no wonder that great unknown artists try it on with the experts,I bet it gives them a great deal of satisfaction seeing their work in a gallery with art experts fawning over it thinking that it was by somebody else,it would take me all of my willpower not to go down and openly laugh at them

I like watching Fake or Fortune because every now and again they get a genuine forgery which pleases me no end,I would buy the forgery over the orginal any day

I havent seen that, fake or fortune, i like art, ive had a go, i have paintings on the walls, ive tried painting the fens, to get good at it takes time, time i havent got. Id pay money for good art, it takes you to a new place, a different place like music.

You never know when you find beauty, there was an advert for a perfume some years back, it had the most wondrous classical music to a man on a gondola crossing a vast water in Venice, it hit me somewhere, somewhere primitive, that id been there long ago.

Id pay money for good art, but not stupid money, big sums are paid and seen as an investment. I might get to see that Wisbech programme tonight,.

You sure that it wasn’t just the cornetto advert Frank?

I would have thought that Fake or Fortune would have been right up your street and it’s in its 12th series now,if you do seriously like art it’s worth a look, probably on iplayer but I haven’t looked as I’m by the river while the final days of sun are with us
