    Sheffield United v Swansea City

Sheffield United v Swansea City Wed 2nd Oct 19:45
After witnessing the disappointing draw with Bristol City, it’s clear a pattern is emerging in our matches this season.
We play with such intensity first half that second-half we suffer burn-out.
The better players are knackered, our lesser players are subbed on and the opposition with their superior subs are ready to strike.
We have a weak bench and a small squad cut to the bone in an economy drive by the owners.
We are playing players out of position through lack of cover and it’s hurting us. Those 4 points dropped at home against Cardiff and Bristol would have put us on the same number of points as 2nd place Sunderland and 3rd placed Blackburn on 15 points.
We move on and with little recovery time we travel to Bramall Lane to play the recently relegated Blades of Sheffield.
With their superior squad, last season’s PL income and parachute payments they have put together a quality team that even though in transition will be hard to beat.
Add to that their extra day recovery time and home advantage and we have a big task ahead of us.
Bearing in mind we have Stoke at home this Saturday, Luke will have no choice but to utilise the squad players.
Most Jacks would take the draw now.

    Sheff Utd 1 (Tymon 43’ o.g.) - Swansea 0
Game of two half’s again. First half we had loads of possession but moves broke down once we hit their solid defence.
Peart-Harris missed a sitter and soon after we conceded. Tymon panicked and the crossed ball hit his thigh and into the net, he got in the way of it, it was going out of play.
Second half United hit the post twice, a late rally of corners for the Swans but they couldn’t get the breakthrough.
Well played, but it was our third 1-0 away defeat of the season. We are so close to being a good side if only we could score more goals.

Game of ‘if only’ as we lose at Brammall Lane.
If only Peart-Harris had scored from a sitter and if only Tymon had let the ball run out of play.
It was a strong performance from us though, head to head with what was an PL team a few months ago, and if we can keep it up the results will come.
A pity we didn’t bring in another striker though as this is our Achilles heel at the moment, not enough goals scored.

If only we could get our team to play consistently for 90 minutes we’d be up the top.
Three 1-0 away defeats, just the one goal in it, we just can’t score enough goals.
Deserved a draw last night for so much good play, but we’d get to the goal area and fail to get a shot off. Poor crosses and free kicks
Still a lot to work to do, plenty to work on but we’re getting there.
