    Flattering to Deceive

I’m hoping the Milwall match will convince us that we are not ‘punching above our weight’, and the last 2 performances have been the result of poor selection and a variety of players having ‘off’ days.
Accordingly, we will press for a certain top 6 position and potentially an automatic promotion.
    Here’s hoping…….

When you start as surprisingly well as we have this season, then of course it's going to de a little downer when we lose. This league will be what it always is....exciting and fairly unpredictable...
I reckon we have about five points more then I had anticipated at this stage Prando, so I think we are doing well, but can always improve...that's the motto.

In this league, anyone can beat anyone, I think the Championship is more open this season than it has been in the previous two. We have a much better squad than I had expected and one that should finish in the top six. It will very likely be a close run thing to be in the top two at close of play.

Borough edged it but we weren't bad. They took their chance and missed a few. We missed our chances.

There were some miscues that don't come down to the manager and were generally representative of an off day. Maja messed up that pass to Wallace, which 9 times out of 10 he wouldn't have.

Them, us, Sunderland, Leeds, Sheff united and Burnley are all quite similar. We could win, lose or draw with all those teams on the day.

I really don’t understand why we think we’re different to anybody else? Sunderland have lost 2 matches are they flattering to deceive? They’re top of the league. 8 games in and we have 6 positive results. There are no crap teams in the championship because how many times do we hear that anyone can beat anyone in this league on the day? I’m chuffed to bits that we are in the top six early on. I expect us to lose some matches. Let’s enjoy the season without autopsies after every single match. Carlos knows what he’s doing (yes he does) and we have a great owner. Let’s get a grip!

Fair comment, as always boingy buddy.

Top six Pranders. Anywhere in the top six. Could be top, could be sixth. But even if we fail like all of us I’m proud of this great club and know it’s in good hands.

Nine games in and it's a point that separates clubs from each other in the top half with Sunderland top on 19 and Boro 9th on 14. The Championship is as tight as it ever was so it's going to be a tough season again. We may indeed have "flattered to deceive" in those opening games but the performances in these last 3 matches have cost us.

Agree with Boingy that we will likely end up top 6 but the club's aim is clearly to improve on that and certainly to be in the play offs. We won't do that however until Carlos finds a Plan B or at least starts to mix the style of play up rather than this sluggish playing out from the back all the time.

At the start of the season he said he wanted to try and get players in who could match the type of football he wanted us to play and which would entertain the fans and, at first, it was great to see both Johnston and Fellows run at and beat defenders to put that cross in for Maja to attack but that's been found out now and he needs to come up with other options.

Like many, I respect his professionalism but fail to see what Wallace brings now and skilful as he may be, Diangana remains far too light weight. Up front, Dobbin sounded better in his brief appearance yesterday, Grant is rejuvenated and we also still have Dike to return but-as others have said-what we really miss a creative "play maker". In the absence of one, surely we can at least work a lot harder on those passes (like Ajayi's yesterday) that might split defences to allow players like Fellows to have a run at them rather than all the tippy-tappy stuff? As it is, too often such passes are either not played or wasted because there is simply no-one forward enough to take advantage.

There are positives to playing out from the back and keeping possession but it's like anything else in life that requires stratergies, it's a tool in the tool box and it won't suit all situations.

All managers/coaches have their limitations, unfortunately ( and I hope not) Corberan might have reached his, he took an aging underperforming squad to the playoffs and now albeit with very limited funds has replaced several players but and it’s a big but the style of football has stayed the same, slow, boring uninspiring football that would send an insomniac to sleep, no plan B, I’m afraid we’ve been found out
